In Our Own Words reveals important common spiritual connecting points for Americans. People are discovering something wonderful for themselves both as individuals and as a whole society. These common spiritual connections represent important avenues and access points for core messages most people will welcome.

People of all walks of life are creating and expressing new values and ideas which reflect views of reality that have much in common with many ancient spiritual and healing traditions, as well as with current scientific insights. As this new wave of ideas and values moves through all areas of human endeavor, people are connecting to a more complete and integrated understanding of consciousness, of the physical body, and of the universe's nature. Regardless of the specific words used to describe this shift in spirituality, the In Our Own Words research shows that many people are experiencing a new awareness and way of being with themselves and with their world.

Our society as a whole has not yet found ways for the majority of Americans to access these concepts in a meaningful and practical way. There are few clear, informed and reliable sources that communicate the concerns, attitudes, thoughts and feelings of Americans within this spiritual context. Through the In Our Own Words Research Program and FFGA's other programs and initiatives, we hope to serve as one such resource.

A new and very different voice is rising -- one that speaks to the highest common good and appeals to the deepest common understanding. This voice awakens the mind, touches the heart, and stirs the spirit. In Our Own Words seeks to give that voice a clear means for being heard.
