Tish Van Camp is a founding director of Foundation for Global Awakening, a private foundation, and is Executive Vice-President of Fund For Global Awakening, a publicly supported non-profit corporation. She comes to her work with a broad perspective gained from a background in art, world travel, philanthropy and social healing. Tish has been an active philanthropist since 1990. Through her life journey she has developed a perspective and a wisdom about the care and thoughtfulness needed for profound social change.
As a young woman, her work as a field archeologist in the Middle East would have a profound effect on her life. Witnessing the challenges and struggles of transcending cultural, racial and religious boundaries, she learned the value of not focusing on polarities and the importance of employing heart-centered diplomacy. This understanding led her to non-judgement and the value of approaching all conflict with an open mind and heart, while looking for a higher path that heals and transcends all separation.
This diverse life journey eventually provided the clarity and the skills for her to realize the clear vision she experienced as a childthe need to heal the world. It emerged first through her philanthropic work at Van Camp Foundation, funding programs for the healing and prevention of sexual abuse and family violence, and later through her ground-breaking work at FFGA addressing the awakening of individuals to their full consciousness and potential.
Her experiences were pivotal in helping her understand how social and cultural healing need be addressed more deeply; and compelled her to look for ways true social healing and global awakening can occur. This led to the renaming of IST and its re-emergence as Fund For Global Awakening in 1997.
