Event Synopsis:

Alex Kochkin, director and co-founder of Foundation for Global Awakening, with John Hudy, research director, will lead a discussion of the implications and applications of one of the largest contemporary research studies of American core values and beliefs, one that carries profound implications for our future as a society and as a species.

A summary presentation will be made of the key findings from a two-year landmark research project in which over 1,600 households, selected according to US Census data across America, were interviewed at the turn of the millennium. The study was carefully designed to meet unusually high standards for social science research and was conducted by a highly qualified research team. The results provide a very reliable and realistic picture of America today -- and where we may be heading.

In this presentation, new material will be shared for the first time concerning pressing sociopolitical trends that we are facing. The In Our Own Words (IOOW) 2000 Research Program demonstrates a growing shift in American attitudes, beliefs and values toward the search for a more integral way of life, a shift that has profound implications for all facets of our society. Our current social structures and institutions do not reflect these values, as they were developed to maintain a course based more on old paradigm history than a new paradigm for our future.

"In our ways, spiritual consciousness is the highest form of politics. We must live in harmony with the natural world and recognize that excessive exploitation can only lead to our own destruction. We cannot trade the welfare of our future generations for profit... We are instructed to carry love for one another, and to show great respect for all beings of the earth. ...Our energy is the combined will of all people with the spirit of the natural world, to be of one body, one heart, and one mind."
-- Leon Shenandoah, Fire Keeper of the Central Fire
for the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy
